Dooars — Where the Jungle Meets the Himalayas
The Dooars is Bengal's most magical secret — a long corridor of dense sal forest, tea gardens, and river valleys squeezed between the Himalayan foothills and the Bengal plains. This is where Tripod Travel was born.
We don't do the standard Dooars itinerary. We take you to Jayanti riverbank camping, Buxa Tiger Reserve treks, and the remote Indo-Bhutan border village of Bindu — places that other agencies have never heard of.

We go slower. We go deeper. Our Arunachal itinerary spends two full days in Tawang — not just an overnight drive-through. Our Meghalaya trip includes the Living Root Bridge trek and the crystal-clear Umngot river at Dawki, not just the roadside waterfalls.

The Sundarbans is the world's largest mangrove delta and a UNESCO World Heritage Site — just 3.5 hours from Kolkata. It is the most accessible first adventure for anyone new to wildlife travel, and at ₹3,499 per person it is Tripod Travel's most popular entry-level package.
Glide silently through narrow mangrove canals on a private boat. The forest is dense and still. Somewhere out there — the Royal Bengal Tiger. Even if you don't see one, the experience is unforgettable.

Sundarban is the easiest first trip — just 3.5 hours from Kolkata, no flights needed, and an incredible boat safari experience from ₹3,499. For a longer first adventure, Dooars is perfect — scenic, wildlife-rich, and easily accessible by overnight train.
Do I need a special permit for Arunachal Pradesh?
Yes — all Indian citizens need an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to enter Arunachal Pradesh. The good news: Tripod Travel arranges your ILP at no extra cost as part of the package. Foreign nationals need a Protected Area Permit (PAP) which we also help obtain.
Can I visit Dooars in summer (April–June)?
Yes, but with caveats. Some forest zones close in summer for wildlife protection. The best experience is October–March. If you must go in summer, we recommend Jayanti and the Bhutan border villages which remain open and beautiful year-round.
Are these trips suitable for children and elderly travellers?
Absolutely. Sundarban, Dooars, and Kashmir are very family-friendly and suitable for all ages. Arunachal Pradesh involves some high-altitude driving (13,700 ft at Sela Pass) which may not suit travellers with serious heart or respiratory conditions. We customise every itinerary — just tell us about your group.
What is included in the package price?
All our packages include accommodation, all meals (from Day 2 onwards), private AC vehicle, local guides, entry fees, and activity bookings (elephant safari, boat ride etc.). Train/flight tickets to/from Kolkata are NOT included. Full inclusions are listed on each package page.
